World Metrology Day

May 20 is World Metrology Day. This day marks the signing of the agreement that establishes a measurement system for the entire world.

It happened during the Meter Convention by representatives of seventeen nations, an event that took place in May 1875. The framework was established for collaboration between countries in the science of measurement and in its industrial, commercial and social.

This year the theme is Measurements for health, the idea is to create awareness about the importance of measurement in health issues, according to to the contingency that has remained global for more than a year. Where the well-being of all of us is sought through Metrology.

Ensuring that the instruments, equipment for the pharmaceutical, food, energy sectors and any other essential operation to ensure that all activities and products for daily life continue to be carried out is a task for metrology.

Metrology aims to study measurement systems in any field of science. And as an indirect objective that quality is met.

It has two very important characteristics, the measurement result and the measurement uncertainty.

Just to mention, there are a large number of instruments to carry out measurements, from simple instruments such as rulers, stopwatches, microscopes, laser meters, among others.

Benefits

  • Promotes the development of a harmonized system of measurements, analysis, exact tests, necessary for the industry to be competitive
  • It provides the industry with the necessary measurement tools for research and development in certain fields and to better define and control the quality of products
  • Improves the methods and means of measurement
  • Facilitates the exchange of scientific and technical information
  • It enables greater international nationalization of products in general, machinery, equipment and measurement measurement

Metrology is in our daily life, it is in our clock, a scale, when we bathe, in the kitchen oven, the speedometer of the car, among other things.

Metrology is applied in all processes, in inputs, in transformation processes and in products.

What is Metrology looking for? seeks to promote competitiveness by improving the measurements that affect quality.

We would like to highlight that Techmaster de México has at all times continued to support all the companies of Industries that collaborate so that life as we know it continues.

We offer a warm congratulations to all those who are dedicated to the areas of measurement and calibration.
