Día Mundial de la Metrología, 20 de mayo.

Metrology is a science that deals with the uniformity, equality and measurement of objects. The objects that are measured or weighed must be standard and measure with the same pattern.

World Metrology Day is an international event celebrated on May 20. It was started by the General Conference on Weights and Measures in 1960. The goal of this day is to raise awareness of the importance of units of measurement and how universal systems can promote trade, science, and commerce. This celebration seeks to promote the importance of the topic through national and international institutions.

This day commemorates the signing of the Meter Convention in 1875 in Paris, which established an international system of measurement units called “Mètre étalon internationale” (International System of Units). The SI system was based on a decimal scheme rather than a duodecimal one like some other scales. To make it easier to calculate than all the others.

Measurements are often taken for granted, but it can be difficult to convey how much is needed to ensure measurements are accurate. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been working on this for over 150 years and continues to work to make measurements more rigorous.

In this 2022 it is celebrated under the motto “Metrology in the digital age”

In order to contribute something to this great day, we invite you to relive the webinar entitled “Basic Metrology and Production Processes” access is free, you can enter any time you want.
